EleTel Ships Pocket PC Voice Mail Product

SAN FRANCISCO--Jan. 8, 2001--EleTel Corporation (CDNX:YLE.U.) today announced that the Company has begun shipping Callex(R) PocketPC with ETPlayer(TM), a voice mail product designed specifically for Pocket PC users today.
Callex PocketPC with ETPlayer enables Pocket PC users to simply record voice messages and send them to any email address or phone number. Recipients can easily send a voice or text reply that appears in the Pocket PC or desktop email. ETPlayer users can receive voice replies by telephone as well.
"Pocket PC users have a great need for data mobility, yet prior to ETPlayer, there was no realistic handheld-computer solution for messaging," said Dr. George Krucik, CEO of EleTel. "Typing email messages on a handheld device is cumbersome. These devices are better suited to voice. Now, with ETPlayer, sending voice messages with a Pocket PC is as easy as using the telephone and more flexible than email. ETPlayer is versatile enough to satisfy the needs of today's busy mobile lifestyle."
ETPlayer works on Windows Powered Pocket PCs such as the Casio Cassiopeia E-125, Hewlett Packard Jornada 540 series, and Compaq iPAQ 3600 series. With ActiveSync, messages can be recorded on a Pocket PC and transmitted from a desktop computer. Using a Pocket PC with the appropriate CDPD modem, ETPlayer provides wireless communications, sending and receiving voice mail from any location.
"Users want email, and the ability to record and transmit essential data even when they are away from their desks," said Dr. Krucik. "Handheld-computers with CDPD modems or melded with cell phones are the platforms for exciting new applications that don't merely offer new features, but offer entirely new and natural ways of doing things. Callex PocketPC with ETPlayer is out in front offering a new and better way of communicating."
