URL(s): E-Plus
CeBIT 2001, HANNOVER, GERMANY-March 21, 2001-E-Plus Mobilfunk GmbH & Co. KG and AirFlash, Inc., the premier development platform provider for building location-based wireless applications, today announced their intention to work together to deliver location-based services to E-Plus customers using the AirFlash(tm) SmartZone(tm) platform. Starting in June 2001, E-Plus will offer these popular context-relevant applications for WAP and SMS to their 6 million mobile customers. E-Plus will showcase its new services during the CeBIT 2001 trade fair in Hannover, Germany, March 22-28.
E-Plus will offer a variety of lifestyle-relevant services to its customers in Germany; all hosted on the AirFlash SmartZone platform. These will include basic search-save services such as business listings search, driving directions and walking directions as well as AirFlash's signature push-pull viral community applications. E-Plus will also use the AirFlash SmartZone platform to develop and deploy its own brand of location-based services specifically targeted to E-Plus business, mainstream, and teen mobile customers.
"Fully integrating the SmartZone platform into our existing infrastructure not only exemplifies our commitment to exploiting the market potential for auto-location driven applications," said Siegfried Ergezinger, director of product marketing at E-Plus, "but also supports our charter to leverage alliances with world-class companies so as to continuously be the first to market with new and exciting modes of communicating."
"The most compelling aspect of our business is the inherent and pervasive flexibility of our products. Our SmartZone platform can be deployed by carriers and each one can fully differentiate their mobile services through unique applications and content," said Rama Aysola, founder and CEO of AirFlash. "As the first carrier worldwide to self-host our proven platform and viral location-based services, E-Plus has opted for optimum flexibility. They now have a fully customisable service line that has virtually endless brand-building and revenue-generating opportunities."
