AtoBe and ESRI Netherlands jointly offer Location Based Services for mobile Internet
AtoBe, leading edge Mobile Application Service Provider, and ESRI, worldwide market leader in the field of
Geographic Information Technology, today announced an agreement to jointly offer Location Based solutions for
mobile Internet. At the CeBIT, the most important ICT fair in Hannover, AtoBe and ESRI Netherlands will present
a practical Location Based application on different mobile devices.
The Location Based Services of ESRI Netherlands are functions specialized around a location such generating
streets and/or topographical maps, route information and proximity. While the interface with the European
databases is founded on XML, the services can be used with any application. AtoBe makes the software
accessible to mobile Internet and integrates it in its European platform.
Mark Herbold, Vice-President Sales & Marketing, ESRI Netherlands: "ESRI Netherlands regards Location
Based Services as a strategically important market. Explosive growth in mobile Internet usage is the general
expectation for the coming years. In the market of mobile Internet, location and information around a location will
become more important. We are proud of the alliance with AtoBe in offering location based applications."
The cooperation offers customers the opportunity to integrate Location Based-software in their mobile
applications. CEO of AtoBe, Nick Haasnoot says: "By incorporating the Location Based-software of ESRI
Netherlands in our platform, we offer our customers a powerful component to further improve the quality of their
mobile Internet services. In particular the combination of Location Based- and Personalization components
provides efficient and effective applications, focused on time- and place related information needs of individual
end-users."
Location based data is key to place- and time critical services. One can use the Location Based-solution for
example as a compelling marketing tool, as a foundation for entertainment services for consumers or to improve the
efficiency of corporate applications. AtoBe and ESRI Netherlands have jointly developed a pilot application for a
live demonstration at the CeBIT in Hannover.
ESRI Netherlands advises and realizes geographic IT-solutions for organizations, based on standard geographic
information technology. 15 years ago, ESRI Netherlands introduced GIS in the Netherlands. In the present day it is
a dynamic market leader with more than 110 employees, supporting more than 450 organizations and 10.000
