SkyGo Joins Openwave Developer Alliance Program

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. --April 2, 2001--SkyGo(TM), Inc., the authority on wireless marketing, today announced that it has joined the Openwave Developer Alliance Program, becoming the first wireless advertising provider to join the program. Openwave Systems Inc. is a worldwide leader of open IP-based communication infrastructure software and applications. SkyGo can add value to wireless network operators' service offerings -- helping to generate additional revenue and foster subscriber loyalty -- by delivering targeted, compelling wireless advertising programs to Internet-enabled mobile phones through the Openwave(TM) Mobile Browser.

Wireless network operators looking for ways to monetize their data offerings, attract new subscribers, and encourage existing customers to increase mobile Internet usage can utilize the SkyGo Mobile Advertising Platform(TM), which is designed to run seamlessly through the Openwave Mobile Browser, to send interactive ads to subscribers' Internet-enabled mobile phones.

SkyGo has developed a platform that creates, delivers, tracks and reports on wireless advertising, transactions and rewards programs. SkyGo also recently completed a comprehensive consumer market study to test the effectiveness of wireless advertising. Findings from this study suggest that consumers will welcome targeted advertisements on mobile phones, and that these alerts drive increased use of the mobile Internet. As a result of receiving SkyGo ads on their mobile phones, 14 percent of study participants indicated they would be willing to switch wireless service providers to continue to receive the SkyGo service.

"We look forward to working with Openwave to provide an integrated platform that will allow operators to derive new advertising revenue from their wireless data offerings while maintaining focus on customer privacy," said Paul Johnson, vice president of business development for SkyGo. "SkyGo complements the value-added services Openwave delivers to its communications service provider customers. We provide a proven solution that allows operators to quickly integrate effective advertising and loyalty programs into their service offerings."

"The SkyGo Mobile Advertising Platform can help carriers reduce churn and differentiate their service offerings," said Kathy Simpson, director of developer marketing for Openwave. "SkyGo is the first wireless advertising application vendor to join our Developer Alliance Program, and Openwave is helping them to extend their reach to wireless network operators."

The SkyGo Mobile Advertising Platform is designed to support all wireless standards and deliver offers to any device equipped with the Openwave Mobile Browser. Whether an advertiser is interested in permission-based ad alerts, contextual ad delivery, or a browse-able ad shopping channel that lists ads by categories or by merchants, SkyGo provides the technology and expertise to design and implement an effective wireless marketing program.

The Openwave Developer Alliance Program has two aims: to promote the concept of wireless information access, and to coordinate the exchange of ideas and information among Developer Alliance Program members, other companies developing wireless Internet products and services, and Openwave's wireless network operators. SkyGo joins a growing list of Developer Alliance members that includes content providers, application developers, tools providers and systems integrators using the Openwave product family.
