Universal Wireless Communications Consortium's Global Summit 2001

BELLEVUE, Wash., April 2, 2001--The Universal Wireless Communications Consortium
(UWCC) is pleased to announce that at their 5th annual Global Summit 2001 in Orlando, Fla., from May 1-3, 2001, the
President & CEO of the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA), Tom Wheeler, will be featured in a
keynote address and will moderate several industry leader panel sessions.
The theme of this year's conference represents the growing evolution of wireless technology around the world: TDMA...
GSM... EDGE... UMTS -- Multiple Options for 3G Success. "The UWCC is honored to have Tom Wheeler offering a
keynote address at our 5th annual conference," commented Chris Pearson, Executive Vice President for the UWCC. "Tom
Wheeler's role with CTIA, and as one of the wireless industry's top leaders, offers the broad perspective of global
interoperability and convergence that represents the expanded vision of our organization."
On May 2, the conference will feature a keynote address by Tom Wheeler. Following the address, Tom Wheeler will
lead a keynote panel session entitled "The View From The Top" bringing together both the operator viewpoint and the
vendor perspective. Representing the operators will be Rod Nelson, CTO of AT&T Wireless Services and Dave Williams,
Vice President of Strategic Planning for Cingular Wireless. Tom Wheeler will also moderate the session on "Vendor
Perspectives" featuring Mats Dahlin, President of Ericsson Mobile Systems, Mitesh Desai, Vice President of Marketing and
Business Development for Compaq Computer Corporation, and Paul Mankiewich, Chief Architect and CTO of Lucent
Wireless Networks Group.
"We are delighted with the program developed for this year's Summit," said Frank Urbany, Chairman of the Board of the
UWCC. Urbany added, "The discussions will allow the audience to hear how operators and vendors are repositioning
themselves to meet the challenges of 3G services and beyond."
The Global Summit offers fifty conference sessions on subjects including 3G business cases, location-based services,
applications, network infrastructure, future wireless devices, marketing research, roaming and technical standards
interoperability. "The conference topics will fulfill the needs of delegates interested in all aspects of the wireless marketplace,
from economical vision to technical advancements," stated Pearson.
