Digital Airways announces availability of Wapaka
URL(s): www.wapaka.com; www.digitalairways.com
Paris, 4th April, 2001 - Mobile Internet technology specialist Digital Airways has announced the immediate availability of Wapaka, a WAP micro-browser entirely written in Java for the Palm OS platform.
Wapaka allows access to the growing number of WAP applications with the power and ease of use of a PDA: large screen, handwriting recognition, integration with other applications, etc.
Entirely written in Java, based on Sun Microsystems' CLDC (Connected Limited Device Configuration) specifications, Wapaka is easily portable. Platforms include all PDAs using Palm OS, but also other operating systems, on any kind of mobile or embedded device. A version for PocketPC will be available soon.
While Wapaka can be adopted as an off-the-shelf product by end-users, it was specifically designed for software integrators and corporate IT departments as an OEM product. Because it is an open, customisable, multi-platform micro-browser, Wapaka is the ideal solution to develop specific mobile applications (mobile intranets, mobile workforce tools, vertical applications for engineers, doctors).
In addition, Wapaka offers a unique multi-session and multi-windows environment, allowing users to open several WAP sites at once. For instance, a sales person can fill in an order form in one window and access the product database in another.
Designed with an open approach, Wapaka is able to work with different communication protocols: GSM, GPRS/3G, Bluetooth and infrared connections. It can also be extended to browse content in cHTML and xHTML.
An evaluation version of Wapaka can be downloaded directly from the company's web site: www.wapaka.com.
