New Symbian Player Developed For Revolutionary Synthetic Video Messaging
London, 24th April 2002: Anthropics Technologies (www.anthropics.com), the London-based developer of 3G-like visual messaging services for mobile networks today announces that it has developed a new Player for the Symbian Operating System (OS), enabling unique images of "talking heads" to be displayed on the next generation of mobile phones.
The Anthropics Symbian Player will enable consumers to develop and send their own FaceWave* video messages which animate still photos with text or speech, to create life-like 'talking heads' - on the next generation of phones developed on the Symbian OS. Unlike other multimedia messaging applications, Anthropics' FaceWave technology will produce high quality images over very low bandwidth, using low processing power.
As part of its continued commitment to make its FaceWave technology accessible on any network and on any device, the Symbian Player will be available to mobile operators, handset manufacturers and consumers using the Symbian Operating System in Summer 2002.
Mobile operators are aggressively seeking new ways of retaining customers and increasing the average revenue per user. By supporting current and developing network technology, Anthropics provides a bridge to 3G by offering operators an immediate opportunity to generate additional revenue and retain existing users.
Andrew Berend, founder and CEO, Anthropics commented: "In an increasingly competitive market, Anthropics will help operators attract new customers, add value to existing ones and generate significant revenues from enhanced messaging services. For handset manufacturers, we offer the opportunity to entice consumers to replace their old handsets to gain access to the latest trend of messaging.
"Anthropics' unique proposition adds the human element which to date has been lacking in much web and mobile based communication. In doing so, it delivers a groundbreaking, revenue-generating opportunity that can bring immediate and significant benefits."
Anthropics is also developing a Java Player for J2ME, a Microsoft Smart Phone Player and a Proprietary Player for proprietary operating systems.
