Digital Cyclone Launches Mobile My-Cast® on mModesm from AT&T Wireless

Company offers customized weather forecasts and radar images in mMode(sm)
MINNEAPOLIS, April 23, 2002 – Digital Cyclone today launched Mobile My-Cast, a customized weather application designed for use by weather-sensitive businesses and consumers on wireless phones. This suite of weather graphics and information is now available through mModesm from AT&T Wireless.
“AT&T Wireless is among the first to open the doors for their customers so they can receive highly personalized weather content while on the go,” said Paul Douglas, chairman and founder of Digital Cyclone and chief meteorologist with WCCO-TV in Minneapolis. “From the supervisor on the jobsite to the coach on the kids’ soccer field, Mobile My-Cast is a planning tool that can help businesses and consumers make informed weather decisions.”
Mobile My-Cast creates the current day’s forecast by combining patent-pending, high-resolution weather forecasting system with National Weather Service data and updates the information eight times daily. In addition, the service provides Doppler radar centered on the user’s location of interest and severe weather alerts.
“We’re always looking to provide additional value to our customers – and Digital Cyclone’s Mobile My-Cast clearly delivers,” said Andy Willett, vice president of consumer data offers at AT&T Wireless. “Mobile My-Cast provides a simple, easy-to-use way to access highly localized weather information and radar data while in mMode.”
Some elements of My-Cast are free to the consumer, including current weather conditions and a seven-day forecast. In addition, My-Cast’s premium product allows a subscriber to receive a nine-hour forecast. Severe weather alerts and radar centered on the location of interest. My-Cast will be initially available for a subscription fee of $1.00 per month for black and white display and $1.99 per month for color display phones. My-Cast is available under the Weather & Traffic channel in the mMode sites folder.
mModeprovides dozens of unique services that enable AT&T Wireless customers to use wireless phones for much more than placing phone calls. mMode gives AT&T customers with compatible phones access to the information and people they care about most – with a few clicks of their keypads. mMode is available in all AT&T Wireless GSM/GPRS markets.
