SmartServ to Provide Wireless Auction Solution for Bidz.com
STAMFORD, Conn., May 17, 2002 - SmartServ Online, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSOL), a leading Web and wireless
application services provider, today announced the signing of an agreement with Bidz.com, a leading web based auction site. Under the agreement, SmartServ
will provide real-time (live) auction services for distribution to end users for bidding via wireless devices using SmartServ's technology. Further terms of the
agreement were not disclosed.
Bidz.com users will have the ability, on a real-time basis, to bid on Bidz.com for merchandise, monitor their activity, and receive alert notification regarding the
status of existing bids -- all from their wireless devices. The parties have initially agreed to select North American wireless carriers to distribute the Bidz.com
wireless product. The agreement further provides that Bidz.com and SmartServ will share in the various revenue components associated with the distribution of
the solution to wireless users in addition to transaction revenues.
"The addition of wireless services is a logical step for Bidz.com. Wireless capabilities will give our almost 2 million and rapidly growing registered users the
ability to get great deals and to receive alert notifications on any one of many available auctions via a wireless device. SmartServ's network and
device-independent technology will provide our audience with the ability to stay in touch with their bids and their bid status, anytime, anywhere," noted David
