- Mobile Gamers Live The Action -
Bordeaux, France, May 29th, 2002 - IN-FUSIO, a leading mobile games service provider, today announced the international launch of Football Fans - the first downloadable, interactive colour* football game available to mobile subscribers.
Unlike other so called mobile football games, which are no more than questions and answers via SMS or simple penalty kicks, players of Football Fans choose from 32 national teams and compete in a replica tournament of the football world cup. Once past the group, stage teams go forward to compete in a true-to-life knock-out tournament until the final and, if their skills are up to scratch, world cup glory.
Three other game modes are available: Friendly; Cup, and Championship - which replicates the popular national championships. Football Fans tests the skill, strategy and judgement of players, who can also decide an offensive, average or a defensive style of play, substitute players, master throw-ins, tackles, passing and shooting.
IN-FUSIO announced that Football Fans has been launched by Vodafone D2 in Germany, Orange France and China Mobile under the name "Football Fans"; SFR in France who has named it "Foot Challenge 2" and Vodafone Omnitel in Italy under the name "Football". Telefonica Moviles will launch the game as "Football" next month. Mobile operators can adapt Football Fans to differentiate the offering.
To highlight the potential of mobile gaming and to increase the game play sensation, players of IN-FUSIO's Football Fans can download further teams to compete against. Additionally, operators can run competitions via IN-FUSIO's game management platform - players simply send a SMS to register their score.
Football Fans is available on mobile phones which have IN-FUSIO's ExEn(r) games engine (Execution Engine) embedded on them.** Delivering full-colour compatibility, reduced download times, enhanced graphics, ExEn(V2 has raised the bar for mobile gaming and offers operators an advanced solution for the immediate delivery of revenue-generating VAS (value added services). Operators see ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) rise by more than five per cent when ExEn(r) is loaded on handsets.
Stéphane Vergnères, product manager at IN-FUSIO commented: "We're thrilled with the quality, fun packed content, and revenue generating potential that Football Fans delivers. The beautiful game can now be played from anywhere, and mobile gamers have the chance to become world football champions! More importantly for operators, Football Fans represents a unique mechanism to engage their customers, excite and retain them and increase ARPU at the same time."
