One Voice Joins Wireless Village Mobile Messaging Initiative

SAN DIEGO--Jan. 16, 2002--One Voice Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:ONEV), developer of 4th Generation voice solutions for the wireless, Telematics, TV/Internet appliances and PC markets, today announced its membership in Wireless Village, the Mobile Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS) Initiative.

Founded in 2001 by Telecom industry leaders Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, Wireless Village has gathered industry experts and leading companies in Instant Messaging to generate pre-standards specifications, provide interoperability and to build a community of supporting organizations. The membership will give One Voice an opportunity to participate in the definition and evaluation of standards including the use of its voice technology in all forms of Instant Messaging. One Voice plans to incorporate these key standards into its MobileVoice(TM) services for wireless carriers.

One Voice's messaging solutions are a strong fit with the goals and objectives of the Wireless Village Initiative. The integration of voice technology with Instant Messaging brings major new opportunities to the communications market. MobileVoice Messaging remains the only solution available that enables wireless phone users to compose and send free-format voice-to-text Instant Messages, e-mail, SMS (Short Message Service) and paging messages -- using only their voice. These services, combined with others such as MobileVoice Activated Dialing, promise to revolutionize the way people use the mobile phone by making applications truly mobile, 100 percent hands-free and easier to use.

"Our membership in Wireless Village emphasizes our commitment and support of global standards for messaging," said Dean Weber, chairman and CEO of One Voice Technologies. "Working closely with industry leaders like Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia to define the core standards will be critical to successfully bringing voice technology to Instant Messaging around the world. We intend to play a very active role in support of this initiative."

To support the MobileVoice rollout and initiatives, One Voice also announced it has closed a $1.4 million round of financing from Laurus Master Funds and Stonestreet Limited Partnership as a follow-on to their previous financing.

About Wireless Village

Founded by Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia, the Wireless Village initiative (or the Mobile Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS) Initiative) was formed in April 2001 to define and promote a set of universal specifications for mobile instant messaging and presence services. The specifications will be used for exchanging messages and presence information between mobile devices, mobile services and Internet-based instant messaging services, all fully interoperable and leveraging existing Web technologies. Through its supporters, the Wireless Village initiative aims to build a vibrant community of end users and global business partners where Internet and wireless domains converge. The IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO) provides day-to-day administrative support to the Wireless Village initiative.
