4thpass Signs Global Reseller Agreement With Ericsson for Mobile Java Provisioning Technology

SEATTLE, WA -- June 11 -- 4thpass Inc. today announced an agreement with Ericsson, the leading telecom supplier, to resell its mobile Java technology. Ericsson has endorsed the 4thpass Mobile Application System (MAS(TM)), and will now make the software available to carriers via Ericsson units worldwide. MAS is server side software that gives carriers power to manage, filter, and deliver Java applications over the air to mobile devices. 4thpass is a pioneer in creating advanced mobile Java, or J2ME, technology.

"Java technology is highly asked for in the marketplace today," said Jan Lindgren, Vice President Mobile Internet Solutions at Ericsson. "With the 4thpass MAS solution, operators will be able to turn Java innovations into a commercial success on existing networks and on future 3G networks."

4thpass MAS has exclusive application filtering technology that inspects, or x-rays, the byte code of applications to ensure they are safe for the carrier network and consumer's mobile devices. On the fly, MAS matches applications to mobile devices with different specifications and memory requirements. For added security, carriers can also use MAS to restrict how applications behave on a device.

"Ericsson's endorsement and global reach gives us unparalleled access to carriers. This partnership is a cornerstone for 4thpass in the marketplace," said 4thpass CEO Mazin Ramadan.

Most major operators worldwide are looking to launch mobile Java services to generate new revenue. The wireless data service brings the latest applications to consumers and gives subscribers an easy way to update applications over the air on their mobile device. With the Ericsson agreement, 4thpass expects to see carriers speed adoption of mobile Java services and consolidation in the competitive Java provisioning landscape.

4thpass MAS technology is the preferred choice of operators and is currently licensed by LG TeleCom (Korea); Telefonica Moviles (Spain); and Nextel in the United States. MAS is also undergoing trials with mobile operators in Asia, Europe and the United States.
