HP LICENSES PIXO MOBILE DOWNLOAD SERVER FOR WIRELESS JAVA™ DOWNLOADING SOLUTION

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 17, 2002 – Pixo, Inc. (www.pixo.com), a leading provider of wireless provisioning software systems, today announced that Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ) has licensed the Pixo Mobile Download Server (MDS) for wireless Java downloading. With the license of Pixo MDS, HP will provide new wireless solutions and services to mobile operators in Asia Pacific.

Pixo MDS allows operators to manage the complexity of delivering wireless Java technology based applications over the air (OTA) to their subscribers. The server manages the complete application download lifecycle, including developer application submission, matching applications to appropriate devices, notifying subscribers of new applications and upgrades, handling application downloads and tracking download information for billing purposes. Pixo MDS works with any MIDP compliant device using Sun’s OTA 1.0 protocol, WAP Push, or SMS Push for the application download. “The Pixo Mobile Download Server was designed for the high performance, carrier-grade requirements of mobile operators,” commented Jitendra Kavathekar, vice president of solutions engineering at Pixo. “HP and Pixo have created a scalable and reliable service that is ready to deliver a wireless Java downloading and a substantial return on investment to operators today.” The Pixo Mobile Download Server is built upon the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) framework and industry-leading software and hardware from Hewlett-Packard and Oracle for carrier-grade scalability and robustness.
