mFormation Extends Wireless Management to New GSM/GPRS Devices and Networks with mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER 1.4
Over-the-air wireless management solution adds
support for latest devices and networks, usability improvements and new diagnostics
EDISON, N.J., Jun 24, 2002 - mFormation(TM) Technologies Inc., an emerging provider of Wireless Infrastructure
Management software, today announced the availability of mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER(TM) Version 1.4. This latest version of
mFormation's flagship product extends its wireless management capabilities to the latest GSM/GPRS devices and networks, making it the only
wireless management platform to fully support both current and next-generation wireless environments. The new functionality streamlines the way
IT staff manage and secure their wireless assets while ensuring the flexibility to scale as organizations deploy new types of devices over new
networks.
"Our wireless management software was designed from the ground up to manage a mix of wireless devices across a variety of networks and to
interface with various external management systems," said Dr. Rakesh Kushwaha, mFormation's CTO. "In addition to improvements in usability and
additional diagnostics to help pinpoint problems more easily, this latest release brings full support for the new generation of wireless handheld
devices that run on the GSM/GPRS networks being deployed in the US and internationally. It doesn't matter what wireless devices are being
deployed over which wireless wide area networks, our software can secure, control and manage them."
mFormation ENTERPRISE MANAGER(TM) Version 1.4 includes support for the latest GSM/GPRS devices, adds usability improvements and
additional diagnostics, and broadens its integration with external management environments. This release provides full support for the latest
generation of wireless devices that run on GSM/GPRS networks, such as the BlackBerry 5810 and 5820 from Research in Motion (NASDAQ:
RIMM, TSE: RIM), as well as for emerging wireless Palm OS and Pocket PC-based devices.
In addition, with this latest release devices can now be tracked as they go in and out of coverage and additional real-time data is available from the
devices, painting a more complete picture of device usage in the field. More information on the performance of individual network components is
now available, making it easier to pinpoint bottlenecks before they affect end users. And wireless network event and alarm information can be
automatically provided in a variety of formats to external management systems, to ensure "anywhere, any time" management for all the components
of any wireless data environment.
