Wysdom Forms Strategic Alliance with APAR Infotech to Provide Mobile Operators with Wysdom MAP-OS

the World's First Mobile Network Operating System -- Agreement Sets Foundation for Wysdom's Expansion into Asia-Pacific Region

TORONTO, Jul 18, 2002 - Wysdom, the leading provider of mobile network operating system software, today announced a strategic partnership with APAR Infotech, a global IT services provider. Under the terms of the agreement, Wysdom and APAR Infotech will work together to deliver Wysdom's Mobile Network Operating System (MNOS) software, Wysdom MAP-OS, to Asian- and Pacific Rim-based mobile operators. The move underscores the company's efforts to expand its presence and accelerate market penetration in key geographical segments around the globe.

According to Neil Ward-Dutton at research firm Ovum, subscriber spending on wireless data services in Asia-Pacific will reach $14.5 billion through 2006. "Obviously this presents a vital opportunity for players in that region. But taking advantage of the opportunity depends absolutely on service providers having the right software infrastructure in place to help with the real 'killer app' - enabling third-party innovation in content and applications. This announcement is a great example of suppliers working together to help service providers build that infrastructure."

Kashif Hassan, president and chief executive officer of Wysdom, believes that the downward pressure on mobile operators' Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) can only be countered by the delivery of margin-rich data services. He commented that the agreement with APAR Infotech perfectly illustrated the recognition that a MNOS is the only way for an operator to profitably deliver an array of compelling mobile data services.

"We're pleased to announce this strategic partnership with APAR, a recognized worldwide IT services leader," said Mr. Hassan. "With Wysdom MAP-OS in hand, APAR's consulting organization will be further empowered to assist mobile operators in the Asia/Pacific region to address the challenges they face in deploying next-generation mobile data services to their subscriber base. We have aggressive growth plans and anticipate that a significant percentage of potential revenue will be driven out of this region."

"Wysdom MAP-OS is a key area of opportunity for us," added Rajeev Srivastava, CEO of APAR Infotech. "We feel that it will be a key strategic tool in the hands of our consultants as they work with our mobile operator clients. It allows them to deploy a wireless services platform that leverages existing network infrastructure build to provide a single environment in which to manage, control and grow an operator's data services business."
