Plexis Group Expands e911 Capabilities With efiniti mobile and Dispatch Watchdog
INDIANAPOLIS, Jul 31, 2002 - Indianapolis-based Plexis Group, LLC is poised to revolutionize the GIS mapping industry with the
launch of two new products, efiniti mobile and Dispatch Watchdog. With efiniti mobile, users have full access to GIS mapping whether it's an emergency
service or field inspection. efiniti mobile allows users to view countywide mapping information on a portable device, such as a laptop or pen-based computer.
efiniti mobile utilizes industry standard data formats and provides complete data querying capabilities for everything from addresses or intersections to latitude
and longitude coordinates. With efiniti mobile there are no limits on the number of data layers available for querying.
"We are very excited about this product. The flexibility of using spatial data in the field, in a user-friendly environment makes this application very powerful."
says Dina Sabri, IS Manager with Plexis Group.
Adding the Dispatch Watchdog functionality to efiniti mobile allows emergency management services to take advantage of GIS mapping when responding to an
emergency. Dispatch Watchdog monitors the ALI (Automatic Location Identification) record or the location of an incoming emergency call and relays the
information to efiniti mobile. efiniti mobile accepts the information and automatically displays a map of the location. Dispatch Watchdog and efiniti mobile also
support wireless Phase I and Phase II requirements.
Here's an example of efiniti mobile and Dispatch Watchdog at work. Let's say you have a chemical spill in a county. With efiniti mobile, GIS mapping
information is already loaded on the Mobile Data Terminal giving you instant access to mapping of the area. With a wireless CAD system, Dispatch Watchdog,
and efiniti mobile, a map is automatically displayed with the exact location of the spill. This allows emergency response teams to utilize valuable GIS data and
notify people in the surrounding areas immediately of an evacuation.
Once Phase II of the cellular phone network is complete, in the event of an emergency efiniti mobile and Dispatch Watchdog will be able to identify and draw
the exact location of the caller on a map, as opposed to the current system, which can only identify the location of the closest cellular tower to the caller.
