-- Event To Be Held at Jacob Javits Convention Center, NYC, September 30 - October 3

DARIEN, Conn., Aug 1, 2002 - Penton Media (NYSE: PME, http://www.penton.com) today announced that its Internet World Fall event is entering its 10th year by offering attendees its most comprehensive and focused program to date.

As the industry's leading conference and trade show dedicated to helping businesses leverage the power of the Internet, the event will run from September 30 - October 3 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. Internet World Fall will also serve as host to the following co-located events: Streaming Media East and Web Services Design Conference (WSDC).

"Nearly every business has faced challenges over the past year, but the good news is that Internet technology has proven to return productivity and profitability to the enterprise," said Megan Forrester, Senior Vice President, Penton Media. "By producing Internet World in New York City once again, we are bringing our vast resources right to the business capital of world, where our attendees can get an in-depth look at the newest technologies, tools and techniques that can empower their businesses, right at their doorsteps."

As always, Internet World will feature industry thought leaders in its keynotes and conference sessions, as well as the most innovative technology and business service companies on the show floor. However, this year's event has been broadened with the addition of several new programs, and highlights of Internet World Fall 2002 will include: CONFERENCES

Vertical Industry Forums - For the first time, Internet World is offering day-long educational programs geared toward specific industries, loaded with practical information and case studies for Healthcare, Retail, Financial Services, Government and Manufacturing.

For business professionals, Internet World's Business Technology Forums cover a wide range of topics, including E-Commerce, Content Management, CRM, Knowledge Management, Security, Advertising and Marketing, Small Business, Web Usability, E-Learning, Mobile and Wireless, and Storage.

IT executives also have numerous conferences from which to choose, including the XML Forum, Webmasters Forum, Flash Forum, Web Services Development Conference and WOW Certified Professional Web Developer Training & Certification Course.

EXHIBITS

In addition to the latest products and services from such industry leaders as Microsoft, America Online, AT&T, Sprint, Radware, Computer Associates, f5 Networks, Foundry Networks and Gauss, Internet World Fall's exhibit hall will also feature:

Hacker Demo - KSAJ, Inc. ( www.penetrationtest.com) will be on the show floor demonstrating the techniques that hackers use to find their targets to attack. How do hackers search out and find vulnerable sites? How easy is it for them to find confidential and restricted data? What tools do hackers use to monitor and commandeer network sessions?

What's Next Showcase - Internet World's survey of attendees has revealed that the number one reason people come to the event is to see what's new. Exhibitor Show Specials - Select Internet World Fall exhibitors offer discounts and incentives for those attending the show. Show specials will be available beginning the week of September 3rd.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Internet World Magazine Best of Show Awards - Internet World magazine's editors pick the most innovative technology, products and services at the show, which will be presented at 8:45 am on Wednesday, October 2, prior to the morning keynote address.
