4thpass launches over-the-air content provisioning at Telefónica Móviles
MAS™ technology installed in GSM network delivers content to wireless users in Spain
SEATTLE, Wash. – August 2, 2002 – 4thpass Inc. today announced the first European launch of its smart provisioning technology, successfully deploying its Mobile Application System (MAS™) at Telefónica Móviles España.
4thpass MAS was integrated into the Spain-based operator’s GSM network to commercially deliver applications and mobile content to millions of wireless users.
At Telefonica Móviles España, the domestic Spanish operator of the Telefónica Móviles Group, MAS currently supports data services on the Siemens SL45i handset. Other Java-enabled devices coming to market are being added to the service. 4thpass will also support content provisioning on smart phones and other Windows® based mobile devices.
“Our success at Telefónica Móviles España shows we clearly understand GSM operators and the European market,” said 4thpass CEO Mazin Ramadan, noting 4thpass now has a London-based office.
“There is a reason more wireless subscribers have access to 4thpass provisioning technology than any other system. We know what operators need to launch wireless services and we built them the best product,” Ramadan said. “Telefónica Móviles España is proof of that.”

MAS ensures the right applications and other content are delivered to the right devices. MAS is unique because it allows operators to restrict application behavior and filter downloadable content on the fly to protect carrier networks and users devices.
LG TeleCom in Korea, Telefónica Moviles in Spain and Nextel Communications Inc. currently license 4thpass technology. Ericsson and Siemens are also resellers of 4thpass MAS technology.
