TestQuest Introduces Interface for Pocket PC
New Product Helps Pocket PC Manufacturers and Application Developers Reduce Time-Consuming Manual Testing
MINNEAPOLIS, Aug 5, 2002 - TestQuest, Inc., the leader in functional test automation tools for wireless devices today introduced
its TestQuest Interface for Pocket PC which provides connectivity between its TestQuest Pro product and Pocket PC devices.
"Until now there have been no serious test tools that enabled automated testing on a Pocket PC device itself," said Prabha Gopinath, Executive Vice
President of TestQuest. "Testing has had to be done manually, or against a PC-based emulator which often behaves differently than an actual device. Now,
with TestQuest Pro and the TestQuest Interface for Pocket PC, organizations can gain competitive advantage by speeding the development and test cycle,
while at the same time improving product quality and reducing testing costs."
The TestQuest Pro System automates the process of testing Pocket PC software by mimicking the presence of a user executing a predefined script of
actions. The system can initiate button presses, stylus actions, and text entry; it also captures LCD images from the device, and uses text recognition and
bitmap comparisons to validate results and determine the success or failure of each test. Flexible and comprehensive test management is also part of the
TestQuest Pro system.
The TestQuest Interface for Pocket PC provides connectivity to PDAs, phones and ruggedized devices running the Pocket PC or Pocket PC 2002 O.S.
The solution employs Microsoft's ActiveSync communication software, allowing the test interactions to occur via USB, serial, IR, or Ethernet.
The price range for the TestQuest Interface for Pocket PC is dependent on system configuration. The Interface module is $7,500; TestQuest Pro is priced
at $15,000 for a test execution system and $25,000 for a complete development and execution system. It is now available for shipment.
