WolfeTech CEO Selected to Speak at Networld+Interop and Comdex;
Surya Jayaweera to speak on “The Microbrowser Wars”
Claremont, Calif. – August 15, 2002 – WolfeTech Development Corporation™, a leading software developer for wireless devices, announced today that CEO and Founder Surya Jayaweera has been selected as a panelist speaker at Networld+Interop and Comdex in Atlanta, September 9-13.
Mr. Jayaweera will speak in the “Code for the Road” session entitled, “The Microbrowser Wars” on September 12 from 2:00-3:15 p.m. It will be moderated by Farpoint Group Principal Craig Mathias. The session promises to present a range of mobile microbrowsing choices, answer which features are critical, address WAP vs. HTML, and discuss recent advances in microbrowser technology for both developers and users. Mr. Jayaweera will speak from his experience as founder of the first company to release a commercial application for the RIM Wireless Handheld™ and Motorola PageWriter™.
A microbrowser is an Internet browser designed for use with a wireless handheld device such as a two-way pager, mobile phone, or PDA. Microbrowsers have small file sizes to accommodate the low memory available to handheld devices and the low bandwidth constraints of the wireless handheld networks. WolfeTech’s PocketGenie™ and PocketInternet(PT)™ wireless software applications both answer the need for a wireless microbrowser. PocketGenie is an information service that maximizes response time through use of a menu system. PI is a full HTML-based browser supporting form submissions, check boxes, drop-down menus, text entry fields, submit buttons, frames, hyperlinks, linked images, e-mail hyperlinks, page caching, and bookmarks.
“It’s an honor to speak on this topic,” said Mr. Jayaweera. “The microbrowser space is a heated environment and the session should be interesting for anyone interested in current wireless dialogues or wanting to learn about how far they have progressed with their own microbrowser. It’s exciting to watch the evolution of these applications into everyday tools that help improve business.”
Networld+Interop and Comdex will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. To learn more about wireless microbrowsing software applications, visit www.wolfetech.com. To learn more about NetWorld+Interop, visit www.interop-comdex.com.
