Logica Enhances MMS Delivery Across Multiple Mobile Devices with PictureIQ
LONDON, Aug 16, 2002 - Logica, the global solutions company and leading supplier of mobile
messaging and mobile payments, and PictureIQ(R) Corporation, providers of multimedia optimization solutions, today announced an
agreement to further enhance the real-time delivery of multimedia messages via Logica technologies by ensuring interoperability between
different mobile handsets or internet-connected devices.
Under the terms of the agreement, Logica will incorporate PictureIQ's TransForce(TM) MTS(TM) into its own Picasso Multimedia
Messaging Service Centre (MMSC) to deliver rich-media transcoding services that will facilitate the management of multimedia content
including images, animation, video and audio messages.
"True device-independence is a crucial element in the drive to ensure mass adoption of MMS and thereby generate revenue for
operators," said Gerry McKenna, CEO of Logica Mobile Networks. "By integrating PictureIQ's proven transcoding technology into our
Picasso MMSC we will provide customers with the high performance capability to support and deliver rich media services more
efficiently and cost-effectively, regardless of the operating network or mobile device. This helps provide a richer messaging experience to
end users."
PictureIQ's TransForce MTS solution is an enabling server software platform capable of powering the real-time optimization and
rendering of content and messaging services for varied aspects of Internet and mobile device delivery, including device displays, formats,
screen resolutions, audio players and more.
"The selection of PictureIQ's technology for Logica's global messaging solution represents a significant achievement for our company. Our
reputation has been built on delivering high-quality, scalable and media-rich transcoding solutions that deliver immediate impact and
results," said Tom Hull, President and CEO of PictureIQ Corp. "Our work with Logica also signals an important advancement for the
mobile industry to benefit from transcoding in MMS by achieving interoperability between all mobile devices."
