Flatwire Debuts Global Wireless Directory Network(R), Providing Secure, Safe, Global Solution to Consumer, Telecom Needs
-- Maine company debuts patent-pending system which keeps consumer wireless listings safe from telemarketers; enables wireless service providers to open high revenue stream with low startup costs
PORTLAND, Maine, Aug 29, 2002 - Flatwire Inc., a privately owned, Maine-based company committed to
providing consumer-driven solutions to wireless telecommunications needs, this week announced the debut of their global Wireless
Directory Network(R) (WDN(R)).
The Flatwire WDN(R) is currently undergoing beta testing, with commercial availability to both consumers and wireless service providers
scheduled for October, 2002.
"Flatwire answers the top questions of wireless users -- how can I list my wireless number easily, and how can I keep it safe and secure
from telemarketers," said Jeffery Strunk, Flatwire President and CEO. "Under our receiving-party-pays system(RPP), it's essential to keep
your wireless phone number safe. It's just common sense, and it's one of the bedrock components of the Flatwire worldwide wireless
directory program."
Flatwire is a patent-pending solution for storing and supplying wireless contact information via high-speed landline and wireless
telecommunication transportation methods. Developed with consumer needs as the number one priority, Flatwire's WDN(R) takes the first
step toward building the premier real-time, secure global directory of wireless subscriber information.
For wireless service providers, Flatwire provides upgraded technology with no new hardware or HR requirements; a simple revenue split for
directory assistance calls; and free online branding through the www.wirelessdirectorynetwork.com consumer interface.
Flatwire's global WDN(R) unites wireless providers' subscriber information on one network, and provides the highest standard of accuracy,
security and online availability. The quality of Flatwire's WDN(R) enhances its subscriber services and maximizes revenue for both wireless
service providers and directory assistance companies.
The WDN(R) provides wireless phone numbers and subscriber information to call centers, web-enabled applications, online directory sites
and web portal partnerships. Charges for the WDN(R) service are incurred by parties requesting information, and appear on their wireless
telephone bill.
"Flatwire is an easy-to-understand and easy-to-use system for both consumers and their wireless service providers. We give
telecommunication providers a high-performance system which is extremely cost effective and maximizes revenue opportunities," said Strunk.
Wireless subscribers will access the Flatwire WDN(R) from their wireless device through www.wirelessdirectory.info, a site which
functions with web- enabled devices of all kinds. Currently, the WDN(R) has a capability of holding more than 200 million records, handing
45,000 users per second, and delivering worldwide in under six seconds. At full capacity, the WDN(R) will host more than 1 billion records
and support 120,000 concurrent users.
WDN(R) products include Secure Online Personal and Business Listings, ComNote(TM) Secure Notification, Recovery/Backup Phone
Book, and Global Search/Send Text Messaging.
-- Secure Online Personal and Business Listings: WDN(R) allows all
subscribers online coded access to their private contact information
through a global, secure interface. The listing services include
General Listings (free), Restrictive Unpublished with ComNote(TM)
Service (free), and No Access Unpublished (charges may apply, set by
WSP). Subscribers can create new listings, update or add address
information, change listing status, and post other contact information
such as a fax, email, and pager numbers.
-- ComNote(TM) (Secure Communication Notification): The Flatwire
ComNote(TM) is a text message notifying a Restrictive Unpublished
subscriber of an attempt to contact them. ComNotes(TM) do not reveal
the unpublished subscriber's private information to either the
requesting party or the operator. The receiving party is not charged,
but is provided the option to call back, call back later, save, or
delete the ComNote(TM). Because ComNote(TM) is a premium chargeable
secure service, with estimated costs ranging between $1.99 and $2.99,
it will effectively prohibit marketing or telemarketing use of any
kind.
-- Recovery/Backup Phone Book: Each subscriber receives a free 500-record
"phone book" which is fully integrated with the global WDN(R). At any
time, from any place in the world, subscribers may synchronize their
personal "phone book" between the WDN(R) and their wireless device.
The service is useful for adding new entries or installing their phone
book in a new wireless device. Additional phone book space is
available for a charge.
-- Global Search/Send Text Messaging: WDN(R) allows subscribers to
search, acquire and send text messages directly from the WDN(R) search
result screen. All charges, if any, are the responsibility of the
provider.
