URL(s): iFone

The Atari games will be available free to O2 customers for one month from 1st to 30th September and then the service will launch across the O2 territories (Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands) from October.

O2 customers will be able to download the Atari titles via the Nokia 3410, with the Siemens M50 becoming available in October and additional J2ME downloadable phones on the market pre-Christmas.

Marketing Manager at iFone, Enda Carey commented, “The Atari classics games such as Pong, Breakout and Asteroids are ideally suited to mobile devices. These games fulfil the requirements of the consumer, they are challenging, have colour graphics and have the ‘playability’ that O2 customers are looking for.”

The Atari classics games are now available free for O2 customers to download from the O2 Games Arcade. In October, each download of an Atari classics games will cost the customer £1.50 (2.5 Euros) which allows them to play as many times as they like for a period of 30 days.

O2 are the second network operator in Europe to offer downloadable games to end users with new J2ME handsets. T-Motion has been offering iFone’s Atari Classics to their customer base in Germany since June and will soon expand the offer to customers in the UK, Austria and the Czech Republic.

Lewis Macdonald, Chief Commercial Officer stated, “O2 are the latest addition to iFone’s growing distribution channel and we will be continually updating and enhancing the channel with more quality titles from our extensive catalogue over the coming years.”
