Sprint Introduces Business Connection Managed Edition
A Fully Managed Data & Communications Solution for the Wireless Workforce -- New Solution Advances Sprint's Mobile Computing Portfolio and the Company's Total Access Vision for Enterprise Customers
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Oct 1, 2002 - Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) today announced the introduction of
Sprint Business Connection(SM) Managed Edition, a solution that provides customers with a fully managed and hosted e-mail platform that can
allow employees to access their data via a wireless connection. Mobile access is attained through the Sprint all-digital nationwide network via
Sprint PCS Vision(SM) enabled phones and certain handheld devices. The new solution, unveiled today at Internet World Fall in New York City,
joins Sprint's Enterprise Instant Messaging product in advancing the company's vision of total access to data and communication tools through
multiple devices within a secure enterprise environment.
Hosted and managed in the state-of-the-art Sprint E|Solutions Centers, backed by service level agreements and protected by some of the best
security available, Sprint Business Connection Managed Edition also can relieve the customer's IT department of the day-to-day management of
Microsoft Exchange 2000 programs, allowing dedicated IT staff to focus on more important initiatives. At an end-user level, Sprint Business
Connection Managed Edition will boost productivity from the customer's workforce through wireless, real- time access to calendar, e-mail and
other Microsoft Exchange 2000 functionality from virtually anywhere.
"Today's enterprise customer is looking for a complex mixture of secure, cost-effective and productivity-boosting solutions for their work
environments," said Tim Kelly, president, Sprint Business and Global Markets Group. "With today's announcement, Sprint is delivering on our
vision of total access by creating an exciting portfolio of products and services that not only can connect workers to their vital data and each other,
