BLACKBERRY USERS TO ACCESS DESKTOP FILES
GetFile Module Adds File Access, MCS 3.1 Enhancements Give Lotus Notes
Users Get Contact Information Feature and List Import Capabilities
Santa Cruz, Calif. --January 28, 2002-- Onset Technology today announced
new components of its METAmessage for Wireless solution: METAmessageR
Conversion Server (MCS) version 3.1 and the new GetFileT module. These
new components provide powerful features for BlackBerryT Handheld users,
including GetFile's ability to provide access to desktop PC files
directly from the BlackBerry and the MCS version 3.1's greater support
for Lotus Notes and quick-setup wizards.
Onset's GetFile, which is available as a separate product module,
greatly enhances productivity for BlackBerry users by providing remote
access to desktop files. Used in conjunction with the AttachmentsPlusT
module, GetFile allows BlackBerry users to view the file hierarchy
stored on their desktop PC or network server, select a file and either
read the file on their BlackBerry handheld or print it on a fax machine
of their choice. Users can also forward the file to another email
address.
"BlackBerry customers highly value the personal and organizational
productivity benefits derived from our corporate wireless email
solution," said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Brand Management at
Research In Motion. "Onset's technology extends these productivity
benefits for both large and small organizations by enabling remote file
and email attachment handling."
Notes, Exchange User Enhancements
Notes users can now use the "get contact information" feature previously
available only to Exchange users. The "get contact information" feature
lets users get phone numbers, email addresses, and other data from an
Exchange global address list (GAL) or Notes address book. Also, Notes
administrators can now populate their METAmessage user lists directly
from a Notes address book.
New users can avoid having to learn complex software settings by
employing the MCS 3.1's new wizards which help automatically setup the
most-often used METAmessage configurations. Also, improved server
administration features include more detailed event logging, exportable
event logs, and improved user list management.
Law Firm Approves METAmessage Solution
METAmessage for Wireless was purchased by the New York offices of Dewey
Ballantine, a leading international law firm. "The
BlackBerry/METAmessage solution will allow our lawyers to stay in touch
and on top of what is going on with clients at all times, without having
to take a laptop with them wherever they go," said Eva Steiner, Director
of Information Technology at Dewey Ballantine. "METAmessage will give
them access to important emails and files and is portable and
transparent. It will give our lawyers real flexibility when they are on
the road and ensure that they can continue providing the high-level
client service for which Dewey Ballantine is known."

accessible and manageable on wireless devices. By expanding handheld
capabilities, METAmessage decreases mobile professionals' reliance on

just email -available anywhere, anytime.
METAmessage for Wireless solutions are comprised of the METAmessage
Conversion Server and one or more METAmessage modules. The METAmessage
Conversion Server software is the foundation of all METAmessage
solutions. Its scalable, open architecture lets enterprises leverage
existing messaging infrastructure and it provides a dependable platform
for future growth. Users can start with one METAmessage solution and
easily add modules as their needs - and messaging technology - evolve.
The AttachmentsPlusT module lets handheld users read and print email
attachments and Web pages, view spreadsheets and slides with original
format intact, and get corporate contact information. The GetFileT
module lets handheld users access files located on their corporate
network for remote sending. In conjunction with AttachmentsPlus, users
can also read and print files.
