Netaphor Announces Beta Release of PDAlert for Wireless Monitoring of Network Devices Using PDAs
IRVINE, Calif., Jan 28, 2002 - NETAPHOR SOFTWARE INC. today launched its latest network management product,
PDAlert(TM).
PDAlert gathers information about changes in the status of printers, digital copiers, routers, switches, servers, UPS units, and other network devices,
and reports that information through a personal digital assistant (PDA).
PDAlert provides systems administrators with a valuable tool for diagnosing their networks and network devices, leveraging the convenience of
Microsoft's Pocket PC-based PDAs. (A Palm OS-based version is planned as well; details on its release will be announced later.) Netaphor believes
that this is the first application of its kind. The current release is a beta version of the software, with final release scheduled for March 2002.
PDAlert requires a wireless LAN, such as 802.11b, and a compatible wireless card in a PDA that runs Pocket PC or Pocket PC 2002 (StrongARM
processor only). Using PDAlert is easy: Simply run the application and let it discover and monitor devices in your network. You can also enter IP
addresses of specific devices to be monitored. Information on all generated alerts is saved to a file so you can transfer it to a desktop for further
analysis.
The beta version of PDAlert is available for download and evaluation from Netaphor's Web sites at www.netaphor.com/products or
www.pdalert.com. Netaphor seeks feedback on the product's operation and welcomes sales inquiries from resellers and OEM manufacturers.
