TTS engine from SVOX now available on Voxpilot’s outsourced VoiceXML channel

SVOX and Voxpilot demonstrate their integrated offering at Orbit/Comdex, a leading IT conference in Europe

Zürich; October 23, 2002 – SVOX, a leading provider of high quality, natural sounding text-to-speech (TTS) software, and Voxpilot, the leading pan-European outsourced VoiceXML channel, have partnered to consolidate and strengthen both companies' presence on the European market by delivering the benefits of SVOX’s TTS engine to Voxpilot’s partners and clients. Voxpilot has integrated SVOX’s natural sounding TTS (Text-to-Speech) to enable services such as e-mail reading, automatic directory assistance and automated commerce.

The combined offering was successfully demonstrated at this year’s Orbit, which took place in Basel from 24 to 27 September 2002. SVOX’s natural-sounding TTS powered a unified messaging solution for mobile employees on Voxpilot’s outsourced VoiceXML Gateway. Visitors were able to experience how e-mails, SMS, tasks and a calendar can be retrieved from any phone, anywhere, simply by using the human voice.

SVOX’s TTS engine features an innovative architecture that is unique, enabling different languages to be spoken with the same voice in one single sentence. Dr. Jonathan Alcántara, CEO of Voxpilot, said:’ The integration of SVOX’s TTS engine makes it possible for us to offer TTS that not only sounds great and allows corporate branding – it also complements our own pan-European offering through its cutting-edge technology. ‘ Alex Fries, Chief Marketing Officer of SVOX, suggested: ’Voxpilot offers a very attractive solution for Telecom operators and enterprises to quickly deploy voice applications. A joint offering with SVOX’s customizable Text-to-Speech will allow customers to scale their speech applications seamlessly and without any constraints.”
