GPS-PS2 - GPS receiver board with latest technology
Thalwil, Switzerland, 23th October 2002 - u-blox, a provider of GPS
based positioning technology, launches its new generation of receiver
board the GPS-PS1E. It continues with the same form factor, but it is
powered by u-blox macro component TIM offering the latest technology.
The GPS-PS2 receiver is a fully self-contained and shielded GPS receiver
board for OEM applications. It provides complete GPS signal processing
from antenna input to serial data output in NMEA or binary format. Based
on the SiRFstarTII chip set, the module is compatible with the GPS-PS1E.
GPS-PS2 operates at a nominal voltage of 5 Volts. Advanced power save
modes allow an additional drastic reduction of power consumption for
applications where power consumption is of primary concern. The GPS-PS2
featuring a RF front-end chip and an integrated low noise amplifier
allows for simple connection of low-cost passive or active antennas. A
dedicated antenna bias voltage pin is available.
The advanced tracking capabilities and fast recovery times of the
GPS-PS2 allow reliable operation in urban canyons and areas of dense
foliage. These are pre-requisites for the use in automotive
applications. The mechanical construction of the board supports fast and
easy mounting.
u-blox is a company operating internationally with headquarters in
Switzerland and subsidiaries in Germany, UK, USA and Hong Kong. Since
its foundation in 1997, u-blox has delivered more than 500'000 GPS
receivers worldwide.
GPS-PS2 OEM GPS receiver boards are available immediately. For further
