Skelmir's CEE-J Virtual Machine Now Available for Personal Use on Microsoft Windows CE for StrongARM
SOMERVILLE, Mass., Oct 23, 2002 - Skelmir LLC today announced the immediate availability of a free personal development
version of the CEE-J(TM) virtual machine for StrongARM(R) devices running the Windows(R) CE operating system. CEE-J is Skelmir's suite of fast,
compact and proven clean room virtual machines for hosting Java applications on embedded devices.
The CEE-J clean room virtual machine for the PersonalJava configuration offers advanced graphical capabilities not found elsewhere. Using CEE-J,
Java developers writing applications for deployment on WinCE/StrongARM embedded devices have access to a host of features including anti-aliased
text and graphics, text on a path, true type font support, embossing, shading and more. These same features are available on all supported CEE-J
platforms.
"The same advanced graphical capabilities that give CEE-J a leading edge in the digital television environment Skelmir is now making available to the
legion of developers creating applications in Java for the handheld wireless market. Working with companies offering top of the line Intel
StrongARM(R) and XScale(R)-based platforms such as Applied Data Systems and supporting the vast numbers of new PDAs on the market, we aim
to make it quick, easy and affordable for customers to deploy Java applications to their embedded systems" said Shari Agatstein, President of Skelmir.
"Skelmir's CEE-J provides a fast and responsive VM for Java for mobile market needs, ideal for our low-power consuming platforms." said Bob Olsen,
CEO of Applied Data Systems.
Independent developers and companies looking to obtain commercial use and distribution licenses for CEE-J can do so by contacting Skelmir directly.
CEE-J clean room configurations include support for CLDC, MIDP, Embedded and PersonalJava(TM). Real Time Java extensions, bytecode
compilers, remote debugging and profiling tools are also available. In addition to support for the WindowsCE/StrongARM platform, CEE-J is available
for a host of operating system and processor combinations, and supports industry standards for digital television, cell phones and more.
