PDA Software Downloads Now Possible Thanks to element 5
URL(s): www.pda.shareit.com
CHICAGO, Oct 28, 2002 - element 5, the e-commerce specialist for Internet-based software sales, has expanded its
share*it! division ( www.pda.shareit.com) to include an online sales solution specifically for software designed for personal digital assistants
(PDAs) and handheld computers. Publishers of this software can now integrate this back-office solution into their websites and sell products
directly without using software resellers.
"For publishers of PDA software, our direct sales solution offers a cost-effective alternative to selling products through resellers and portals,"
explains Gerrit Schumann, CEO of element 5. "The increasing popularity of PDAs and the corresponding demand for software for these devices
ensures that both publishers and buyers will benefit from this solution."
This service is available for the Palm OS, Windows CE (Pocket PC) and Symbian operating systems, which accounts for approximately 95
percent of the PDA market. element 5, which currently operates e-commerce solutions for thousands of software publishers worldwide, enhanced
its e-commerce solution to support special requirements of PDA publishers.
In addition to managing the ordering, payments, electronic shipment, software licensing and customer support for software publishers, element 5's
solution also eliminates the possibility of illegal software duplication through two proprietary licensing methods (HotSyncIds and RegCodes) for
Palm software by generating individual license keys that identify software belonging to a particular PDA. PDA software vendors are also secure to
communicate specific information to their customers, such as sending direct notifications about system requirements and compatible devices during
the order process.
In addition to these special features, customers can choose among all standard payment options, various currencies and conduct business in six
languages during the ordering process. element 5 also provides an information management system that allows software publishers to access
product, sales and account data online. Finally, publishers can take advantage of additional marketing and sales opportunities through element 5's
partner network including international e-stores and catalogs and the option of integrating a publisher's own partners.
