Fastrax GPS Technology Powers Indagon Telematics Device for Fleet Management
- The First Mobile Telematics Device to Utilize Assisted GPS in GSM, GPRS
and TETRA Networks
Showcased at PT/EXPO COMM CHINA, October 29 - November 2, 2002
Helsinki, Finland - October 29, 2002 - Nokia Early Stage Technology Fund
portfolio company Indagon Ltd.,
a developer and producer of high accuracy GPS-based positioning solutions
today introduced the first mobile
telematics device for fleet management utilizing assisted GPS in GSM, GPRS
and TETRA networks at
China's premier technology event PT/EXPO COMM CHINA 2002. Indagon's new MTT
110 positioning device
is based on Fastrax iTrax02/8, a programmable 12-channel GPS receiver with
the lowest power consumption
on the market. Fastrax Ltd. is a developer of industry-leading GPS modules
for optimal utilization of the Global
Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Indagon MTT 110 will be commercially
available by December 2002.
"Real customer needs are pushing forward practical location based services
and telematics systems for the
mobile world. The Indagon team understands the growing need as it has over
50 years experience with
Nokia and more than 10 years experience in the positioning business. With
our iTrax02/8 Indagon is taking
full advantage of the latest developments in positioning technology. The
versatile programmability of
iTrax02/8 enables Indagon to make no compromises in usability and customer
criteria related performance",
said Kim Kaisti, VP Business Development of Fastrax Ltd.
Indagon is a Nokia TETRA application partner and is committed to provide
innovative and customer driven
telematics systems for fleet management in business and public sector usage
in almost any network
environment, scalable for a rapidly increasing number of real-time users.
When simple location data is
combined with status, activity and availability information the combination
enables endless possibilities to
create new services and service interactions in field of vehicle management.
"Fastrax's easily programmable GPS module enables us to add incomparable
positioning features to the
MTT 110, which is the first mobile telematics device on the market that
utilizes assisted GPS in GPRS and
TETRA networks. Our client-server location architecture translates into high
accuracy and high availability in
GPRS and TETRA networks for professional users", said Matti Lankinen,
President of Indagon Ltd.
Fastrax iTrax02/8 features 8 Mbit Flash memory allowing versatile
programmability with the iSuiteSDK
(Software Development Kit). Application costs are reduced significantly when
no external processor is
needed and the iTrax02 is used as a microprocessor. With fewer components,
size and manufacturing costs
of off-the-shelf product are also reduced. iTrax02/8 module provides
reliable and accurate information of its
position, velocity, direction and time, along with an embedded Flash memory
to store the latest data,
replacing the need for a separate back-up battery.
Fastrax's product family of iTrax02 Series GPS receiver modules offers key
benefits in performance, size,
power consumption and versatility. The iTrax02 Series modules are ideally
suited for both industrial tracking
systems and battery-operated consumer products like mobile phones, asset
tracking devices, handheld
computers and sports accessories.
The iTrax02 Series of Fastrax GPS receivers are globally available via a
