Diversinet's Advanced Security Now Available On Symbian OS Mobile Phones
TORONTO, CANADA, Oct 30, 2002 - Diversinet Corp. (NASDAQ SmallCap: DVNT), a leading provider of
mobile commerce (m-commerce) security infrastructure solutions, announced its Passport Certificate Server now supports Symbian mobile phones.
Diversinet continues to add to its widest device coverage in the market for its Passport Certificate Server end-to-end wireless security by expanding
its current offerings to include the Symbian operating system (OS) to address current customer needs.
The Symbian OS is an advanced, open operating system licensed by the world's leading mobile phone manufacturers (Ericsson, Fujitsu, Matsushita,
Motorola, Nokia, Psion, Samsung, Sanyo, Siemens and Sony Ericsson). Symbian OS is designed for the specific requirements of advanced 2G, 2.5G
and 3G mobile phones and combines the power of an integrated application environment with mobile telephony, bringing advanced data services to the
mass market.
Diversinet's Symbian OS security client enables application developers to permit end-to-end application-level security on Symbian OS devices,
providing end-users with a means for secure data transmission. Diversinet's security facilitates the strong user and server authentication, privacy, and
non-repudiation in wireless transmissions and transactions.
"Now that the majority of the world's handset manufacturers are Symbian OS licensees, Symbian OS devices are set to become mainstream for
providing advanced 2.5G data services," said Craig Heath, Strategic Product Manager, Security, Symbian. "The availability of Diversinet's certificate
client for Symbian OS is a significant addition to the security toolbox available to Symbian OS developers."
"There has been a tremendous amount of interest from our customers for Symbian OS device security solutions as they recognize the future potential
of Symbian OS. Symbian 2.5G devices are quickly reaching mass market with Symbian OS licensees representing over 70% of mobile phone
shipments globally," said Hussam Mahgoub, Vice President of Products, Diversinet Corp. "We are proud to offer a security solution for Symbian, as
Diversinet has always been committed to staying on top of current market trends."
