ThinSoft and theKompany.com Partner to Offer Unique Bundled Software Solution for the Zaurus PDA
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 31, 2002 - ThinSoft (USA) Inc. ('ThinSoft') today announced that it is partnering with
theKompany.com, Inc. ('TKC') to promote a unique bundled software solution for the Sharp Zaurus PDA SL-5500.
ThinSoft is the developer of WinConnect Z, a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 5.1 Client for the Zaurus that allows it to connect to Windows.
TKC is the leading developer of popular software programs for the Zaurus.
The two companies are partnering to bundle WinConnect Z and tkcJabber to offer a relevant suite of software solutions geared for the Fortune
1000 market.
WinConnect Z enables the Linux-based Zaurus PDA to access Windows applications. It allows information technology managers to remotely
manage corporate networks via the Zaurus.
Sales, remote-based and travelling employees can now access their Windows PC desktop while on the road. WinConnect Z enables this through a
connection to a Windows 2000 Server or XP Pro PC and establishing a remote link.
tkcJabber is a full-featured Jabber client that supports all major instant messaging platforms that are available in the Jabber server. Transport
connection wizards make it easy to interface to AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Chat, IRC, etc.
tkcJabber is extremely attractive to corporations as they can easily deploy a highly secure Jabber server for virtually no cost to enable and facilitate
in-house communications.
With tkcJabber and a wireless adapter, corporate users can quickly and discretely communicate with anyone, anytime and anywhere when the
need arises.
The combined software suite will give corporate IT managers a complete solution for the Zaurus. A Zaurus user can access Windows applications,
as well as use tkcJabber for instant messaging colleagues and employees.
ThinSoft's President Bernard Ngiam said: "theKompany.com is the leading provider of software for the Zaurus. As such, ThinSoft's market
collaboration is strategic.
"The Jabber client fits nicely with WinConnect Z's technology capability, which is focused on providing IT managers and enterprise customers the
ability to remotely access their corporate networks."
TKC's President, Shawn Gordon said, "We are excited about partnering with ThinSoft to create this software bundle. Together, the WinConnect Z
software and tkcJabber client will offer a unique solution geared towards corporate Zaurus users".
