Insignia's Java-Enabling Technology Included in HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 Series
Wireless Device Uses Insignia Technology to Access New Mobile Services
FREMONT, Calif., Nov 18, 2002 - Insignia Solutions(R) (Nasdaq:INSG) today announced its Java-enabling
technology will be included in the HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 series Companion CD.
Insignia's software enables iPAQ users to download and run Java-based content -- created by an estimated 250,000 mobile Java developers
worldwide -- such as games, web pages, business to business applications, email and personal management software.
The versatile, wireless HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400 features integrated technology including wireless LAN (802.11b) and Bluetooth, biometric
fingerprint reader, Secure Digital slot, advanced power management and consumer infrared, which enables it to act as a universal remote
control.
"HP leads the Pocket PC marketplace, and with the new iPAQ, it redefines the wireless PDA market and provides all the benefits of business
and consumer applications in a handheld device," said Rick Noling, Insignia's chief executive officer. "By extending our relationship with HP
onto its new wireless device, both business and home users benefit from secure access to mobile Java content, providing the ultimate wireless
computing experience. This agreement further reinforces Insignia's dominance in providing Java-enabling technology for the mobile market."
"Insignia was the natural choice to provide the benefits of Java technology to users of the new wireless iPAQ Pocket PC h5400," said Cindy
Box, director of marketing, HP Smart Handhelds. "Its software offers proven high performance and gives access to a growing amount of Java
content for both home and business use."
