Wirca and Aloha Technologies Introduce Mobile Commerce Payment Solution for Restaurant Industry
Wirca and Aloha Technologies Team Up with a Schlotzsky's(R)Deli
Franchisee to Enable Consumers to Use Mobile Phone for Faster, More Secure Payment at the Counter or Drive-Thru
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov 22, 2002 - Wirca, Inc., a leader in mobile payment applications, announced today
its launch of the PocketChange(TM) payments solution for the Aloha Technologies Point-of-Sale platform.
PocketChange is based on Wirca's revolutionary mobile payment technology that allows a consumer with any mobile phone to complete
purchases in retail stores and restaurants as well as from vending machines. It also allows a consumer to make a person-to-person cash
transfer. PocketChange's mobile payment interface for the Aloha Technologies POS terminal is a software-only solution that easily integrates
into the merchant's existing system.
"We are excited to have this opportunity with Schlotzsky's(R) Deli franchisee BCT & G, Inc., to introduce our mobile payment solution to the
QSR (quick-service restaurant) segment of the restaurant industry," said Howard Gerson, president and founder, Wirca, Inc. "Our
PocketChange solution allows consumers to turn their mobile phone into a mobile wallet with payment options including checking account,
credit card and debit card that provides consumers with the security and anonymity they expect. PocketChange also allows consumers to
participate in loyalty programs at merchants with Wirca-based mobile commerce functionality."
"As a leader in innovation for the POS industry, Aloha Technologies is pleased to be the first company to introduce the PocketChange solution
to the restaurant marketplace," said Martin Siebert, vice president of marketing, Aloha Technologies. "Wirca demonstrated the ability to easily
integrate this affordable software-only solution into our POS platform. That simplicity should be a great benefit to our merchants."
Geri Restivo and Bart Hastert own and operate two Schlotzsky's(R) Delis in greater Kansas City. They said, "We are always looking for
ways to provide a better customer experience at the counter or at the drive-thru. Wirca's mobile phone payment solution makes the process
faster and allows us to build loyalty with our customers."
