Proxim's New ORiNOCO AP-2500 Awarded Best of Comdex in Enterprise Hardware
AP-2500 Delivers Key Features for Enterprise Visitor Access and Public Hot Spots
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov 22, 2002 - Proxim Corporation (Nasdaq: PROX), a leading provider
of high-performance wireless local area networking (WLAN) and wireless wide area networking (WWAN) products, was named "Best of
Comdex" for Enterprise Hardware for the new ORiNOCO AP-2500. The AP-2500 enables enterprises to offer secure visitor access and
provides hot spot venue owners with an affordable, easy-to-use solution for public Internet access.
The Best of COMDEX Awards recognize the most innovative and influential products and technologies introduced at COMDEX Fall. A
panel of editors from PC Magazine judged the nominees prior to and during the event, and named the winner in a ceremony held on the
Comdex show floor on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

and public venues to offer visitor Internet access."
The AP-2500 can be easily added to an enterprise's wireless network to provide visitor Internet access in selected parts of the facility. The
AP-2500's dual-slot architecture is designed to separate the corporate and visitor networks, protecting corporate data from visitors. Since the
AP-2500 combines gateway functionality with access point technology, it is also ideal for small to medium venues, such as regional airports
and coffee shops, that wish to become a Wi-Fi public hot spot but don't want to invest in an expensive, back-end gateway solution.
The AP-2500 offers key features such as advanced security, home page redirection and Dynamic Address Translation(TM) (DAT(TM)).
With DAT, the AP-2500 overrules all user specific IP and proxy settings in the laptop or PDA to ensure that all users can easily access the
hot spot network without changing computer settings, providing a seamless public access experience for the user and reducing the support
cost for the hotspot operator. The home page redirect feature automatically redirects the venues portal page where the venue owner can
display customized, local content. In addition, the AP-2500 offers bandwidth management to allow the operator to differentiate his service
offering and it enables easy integration with standard billing and authentication processes that are used by most service providers.
The ORiNOCO AP-2500 is available now worldwide through Proxim's VARs and distributors. It has a list price of U.S. $1095.
