Nokia Begins Delivery of CDMA2000 1X Handsets to MetroPCS

Flat-Rate Service Provider to Offer Expression-Category CDMA Nokia 3585 Phones

DALLAS and IRVING, Texas, Nov 27, 2002 - Nokia (NYSE: NOK) began deliveries of the CDMA2000 1X Nokia 3585 phone to wireless carrier MetroPCS Inc. The Nokia 3585 phone will be offered in each of MetroPCS' markets, including Atlanta, Miami, Sacramento and San Francisco, and will be packaged as part of MetroPCS' innovative flat-rate pricing plan offering unlimited, anytime local calls for $35 per month with no contract.

"We designed the Nokia 3585 phone to appeal to wireless users that want a distinctively-styled phone with more features than the average affordable handset, which makes it a perfect match for MetroPCS' target market," said Larry Paulson, vice president of the CDMA business unit for Nokia. "Keeping in touch should be simple and worry-free, and the Nokia 3585 phone coupled with MetroPCS service delivers on both counts."

The Nokia 3585 phone offers MetroPCS subscribers a wide variety of personalized features, giving users the opportunity to turn their phone into an extension of themselves. By connecting an optional data cable between a PC and the Nokia 3585 phone, owners can download and create their own polyphonic MIDI ring tones. For owners who want to make a cutting-edge fashion statement, optional Xpress-on Active covers with embedded electroluminescent illumination create a virtual light show that plays in synchronization with the ringer.

"Nokia is not only an established brand name in wireless handsets, but has long been associated with innovating new and fun ways for people to communicate," said Roger Linquist, president and CEO for MetroPCS. "The Nokia 3585 phone offers the kind of quality that we strive to offer MetroPCS subscribers with our $35 a month all you can talk flat rate service offering."

Additional features included on the Nokia 3585 phone with MetroPCS service are two-way text messaging with predictive text input, synchronizable phonebook and calendar, and advanced voice features, including voice dialing and an integrated voice memo recorder.
