New Version of Infowave Symmetry Pro Wireless E-Mail Service Now Available

-- Optimization for Handspring Treo, Support for E-Mail in European Languages and Compliance with Data Accelerator Services Highlight New Features

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov 27, 2002 - Infowave Software (TSX: IW), a provider of wireless software for mobile professionals, corporations and network operators announced today the availability of a new version of its Infowave Symmetry(TM) Pro software, a desktop redirector service that allows individual users wireless access to send and receive their corporate e-mail on Palm OS and Pocket PC 2002 operating systems. The new release offers subscribers several new features including, optimization for the GPRS and 1XRTT enabled Handspring Treo, support for e-mail in European languages and compliance with network data accelerator services in use by T-Mobile USA and others.

The new version is available immediately for Symmetry Pro subscribers and the upgrade can be downloaded direct from http://www.symmetrypro.com/upgrade/upgrade.htm.

According to Bill Tam, Executive VP Sales and Marketing at Infowave, "Working wirelessly just got easier with this new version of our Symmetry Pro wireless e-mail software. The new functionalities we've added offer more choices and give greater freedom to individual mobile users. In particular, expanding our support for the Handspring Treo broadens Symmetry Pro's already long list of supported handheld devices and allows us to reach a larger market."

Symmetry Pro New Features:

Support for GPRS and 1XRTT Enabled Handspring Treo Handspring recently released a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) update for the popular Handspring Treo, as well as a new 1XRTT version of the Treo for CDMA networks. Both versions of the Treo now allow packet-based, always-on data connections to the Internet, while the original release of the device only allowed circuit-switched connections, the wireless equivalent of a dial-up connection from home using a modem and a standard telephone line. The new release of Symmetry Pro allows these new data connections to be used to access corporate e-mail, in addition to the circuit-switched connections already supported.

Support for E-Mail in European Languages

This new version of Symmetry Pro now fully supports sending and receiving corporate e-mail in major European languages, including French, German and Italian from Palm OS and Pocket PC 2002 handheld devices.

Compliance with Network Data Accelerator Services

Several network operators use data accelerator services to improve the web browsing experience of their subscribers. These acceleration services can interfere with other types of Internet traffic, including the transfer of corporate e-mail with Symmetry Pro. This updated version of Symmetry Pro employs a technique that ensures data integrity between the device and the user's desktop e-mail system, regardless of any acceleration technology used by the network operator. Symmetry Pro can now be used by subscribers of network operators using such technology including: T-Mobile, Orange, Microcell, Telstra and others.
