Liberator Platform Adds Telephone Accessibility To User Interface Allowing the Visually Impaired to Hear What Others See Online
For Immediate Release – LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. – Imirage, an interactive marketing and e-business development firm that also creates practical software tools, has developed a user interface that provides users of its Liberator Website conversion platform (www.goLiberator.com), access to Website based news and information via telephone. This is an extension to Liberator’s core capability of enabling conventional Web content to be read on Internet-capable cell phones and wireless Personal Digital Assistants using WAP and HTML output.
This new application allows the Liberator platform to render properly prepared Website content as Voice Extensible Markup Language (VXML), which then can be interpreted into spoken language via the Tellme Networks audible browser. In addition to making Web content available virtually anywhere, it also supplies visually impaired consumers with the option of listening to content that is Liberator-enabled. Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA), which already uses Liberator technology at wireless.lvia.org, has already implemented the VXML application.
“This new extension to our already successful Liberator Web conversion platform gives our clients a another innovative way to provide their Web-based content to consumers,” said Jim Ludlow, chief executive officer at Imirage. “VXML technology offers Liberator users a cost effective method for consumers to listen to website content when a computer or wireless device is not available as well as making an organization’s web content accessible to individuals worldwide who are visually impaired. Liberator represents a quick and simple way for websites to meet directives of the Americans with Disabilities Act."
Liberator enables conventional Internet website owners to quickly and easily convert their on‑line content for delivery to mobile devices ¾ cell phones and PDAs ¾ without having to use complex markup languages or rewrite existing web code. Different from other wireless development tools, Liberator extracts wireless website content exclusively from its parent website using a series of tags embedded in existing HTML code to mark the content for display on mobile devices. When a mobile device user accesses such a web site, the Imirage Liberator engine seamlessly and instantaneously extracts only wireless-enabled content. Imirage’s technology eliminates the need to create and update parallel conventional and wireless website entities effectively saving companies Web development and maintenance costs.
