Dublin, Ireland - March 4, 2002 - Rococo Software is pleased to announce that Russell Banks, Rococo Product Marketing Manager, has been named the newest member of the Bluetooth™ Special Interest Group (SIG) Membership and Events Team. Banks will work with other members of the team to promote the short-range wireless technology.
“I’m very pleased to be part of the Bluetooth SIG Membership and Events Team,” said Banks. “I look forward to working closely with the Bluetooth community to help speed-up the worldwide adoption of this exciting, short-range wireless technology.” Banks will also speak as part of a forum on Bluetooth Usability at the Bluetooth Congress in Amsterdam in June.
According to the SIG, Bluetooth wireless technology is set to revolutionize the personal connectivity market by providing freedom from wired connections. It is a specification for a small-form factor, low-cost radio solution providing links between mobile computers, mobile phones and other portable handheld devices, and connectivity to the Internet.
The Bluetooth SIG, comprised of leaders in the telecommunications, computing, and network industries, intends to drive development of the technology and bring it to market. The SIG includes promoter group companies 3Com, Agere, Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia and Toshiba and more than 2000 Associate and Adopter member companies, including Rococo Software. The SIG is primarily a volunteer organization run by employees from member companies. These individuals support a number of working groups that focus on specific areas, such as engineering, qualification and marketing.
