BlueDot adopts wireless technology from Airtuit

Knoxville, TN, January 9, 2002- BlueDot, an HVAC national service provider and a division of NorthWestern Corporation (NYSE: NOR), today announces the rollout of a wireless initiative that enables field service personnel to interact with corporate systems from remote locations. BlueDot chose Airtuit as its wireless partner.
Using Airtuit's BlueMoon wireless application server to access its WennSoft system, BlueDot field service personnel now have the ability to accept, update status, and close assigned jobs, to initiate invoicing cycles, and to communicate with central dispatch over any web-enabled mobile device. The purpose of their wireless initiative was to automate the function of work order management, providing productivity gains for the field technician and the dispatcher while enabling the company to be more responsive to its customers. BlueDot is an industry leader in adopting technology to achieve operational efficiencies.
The decision to move forward with Airtuit and WennSoft came after an extensive evaluation program in its South Florida service area. Once the systems were in place, the challenge faced by the company was to train personnel to properly use the technology. Response to the system was highly positive. According to Eddie Davis, one of the technicians in the pilot group, "We don't have to call in to dispatch to get all the customer information. It's on one screen and you can go back and look at it. Customers are impressed that we are using technology to process their service call over a cell phone. Other companies phone back to the office from the customer's home."
"BlueDot's intent in exploring wireless technology was to find a solution that could streamline our dispatch system," said Ross Meriwether, CIO BlueDot, "thereby making our operations more efficient while still providing excellent support to the field. With Airtuit's BlueMoon software, we were able to increase the productivity of our field techs, simplify the job of our dispatchers, and increase our responsiveness to the customer. BlueMoon Software with WennSoft has performed extremely well for us, and the support has been exceptional."
