Handango Joins Symbian Platinum Partner Program

Leading mobile software provider feeds growing demand for Symbian OS applications

HURST, Texas - April 28, 2003 - Handango, the leading publisher and platform for mobile software, today announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Partner Program to support the emerging market for Symbian OS(TM) advanced mobile phones. As a Platinum Partner, Handango will continue to support Symbian's ecosystem of developers, partners and licensees with its market-leading application management and provisioning platform, Handango AMPP. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the global industry standard operating system for advanced mobile phones, to the world's leading handset manufacturers, including Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson.

"We have seen amazing growth in the Symbian ecosystem in the last few months," said Laura Rippy, chief executive officer of Handango. "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can provide our developers with more of the content and resources necessary to develop great mobile software and continue to provide our licensees with support of the latest Symbian OS innovations."

With the launch of several stylish Symbian smartphones such as the Sony Ericsson P800 and the Nokia 7650/Nokia 3650, consumer interest has surged; "P800" and "7650" are among the most-searched words on many of the application download sites built on Handango AMPP. In addition, based on Handango software sales over the past year, Symbian OS device users are avid software users, buying an average of 19.9% more software (in USD) per purchase than users of other mobile devices.

Since adding Symbian downloads to its application platform in April 2000, Handango has secured partnerships with Symbian OS licensees Nokia and Sony Ericsson. Currently, Handango's application management and provisioning platform, Handango AMPP, powers the Nokia America's Software Market (http://americas.softwaremarket.com), the Sony Ericsson Application Shop (www.sonyericsson.com/handango), My-Symbian (http://shop.my-symbian.com), a leading online portal for Symbian enthusiasts, and the Symbian downloads portion of Cingular's consumer portal (www.mywirelesswindow.com).

"Handango's continued support of Symbian OS and their strong developer relations will prove to be a valuable asset in the growth and success of Symbian OS," said Martin Coul, technology partner program director of Symbian Ltd.

The Symbian Platinum Partner Program includes companies that have a technology or strategic position that is key to the success of mobile computing technology surrounding Symbian OS. As part of the program, Platinum Partners benefit from a range of commercial services, including technical support and joint marketing opportunities as well as privileged access to Symbian OS source code and a dedicated Partner Support team.
