D-Link's AirPlus Enhanced Wireless Networking Solution Powers Largest Wi-Fi Recreational Area in Texas

D-Link Wireless Networks Provide Access for Resort-Goers and Lake Visitors at Lake Conroe in Montgomery, TX

IRVINE, Calif., May 1 - The Del Lago Resort and Conference Center at Lake Conroe in Montgomery, Texas can boast that it is part of the largest wireless Internet hotspot in the entire state, providing wide-scale wireless Internet accessibility to resort guests and lake visitors. The resort is part of Jarvis Entertainment Group's wired lake project at Lake Conroe, enabling guests to stay connected to email and the Internet while attending a conference at the resort, while playing golf on the back nine or even while fishing and boating on the lake. The first of its kind in Texas, the resort's sole wireless connectivity is provided through more than 60 D-Link DWL-900AP+ AirPlus Wireless Access Points and DWL-650+ AirPlus Wireless Cardbus Adapters, enabling wireless coverage over three-quarters of the man-made 22,000-acre Lake Conroe.

Powered by D-Link's AirPlus Wireless products, the lake hotspot delivers Del Lago Resort patrons and residents a wireless flow of constant, dedicated access to the Internet, allowing people to stay connected anywhere in the resort. The system is operated from Jarvis Entertainment Group's state-of- the-art underground bunker, which provides wireless access, via D-Link's AirPlus Enhanced Wireless Access Points, directly back to the high-speed fiber transport to the Internet.

"We are pleased that they chose D-Link AirPlus to power the wireless connectivity to the wired lake project," said Steven Joe, President of D-Link. "Our access point offers the Jarvis Group and Lake Conroe visitors high-speed features as well as the interconnectivity that they need."

"We selected D-Link to help bring wireless connectivity to our wired lake project because of their product advantages and our experience with their reliability," said David Herr, Chief Technical Officer of Jarvis Entertainment Groups. "D-Link's long history of creating great products at affordable prices made them the only choice for this complex project."

The D-Link AirPlus family of wireless products offers several elegant wireless solutions for both the home and business user looking to create or expand a wireless network at an affordable price. The D-Link AirPlus DWL-900AP+ Enhanced Wireless Access Point provides four operating modes including a point-to-point bridge, a point-to-multi-point wireless bridge, it can serve as a wireless client, or can act as a repeater for creating or expanding a wireless network. The D-Link AirPlus DWL-650+ Enhanced Wireless Cardbus Adapter enables laptop users to connect to the Internet over wireless networks without the hassle of having to disconnect and reconnect wires. Both the D-Link AirPlus Enhanced Wireless Access Point and the AirPlus Enhanced Wireless Cardbus Adapter are compatible with any IEEE 802.11b standard- compliant device, feature 256-bit WEP encryption for high-level wireless security and when working with other AirPlus product, can achieve file transfer speeds of up to 22Mbps.
