Motorola Kicks Off E-Field Sensor Design Contest
Awards Given for Most Compelling, Practical Implementations Using Industry's First 3-D Electric Field Imaging IC
PHOENIX, April 28 - Motorola (NYSE:MOT) has launched a new embedded system design contest called, "Sense the Possibilities." The contest, accessible through Motorola's web site at www.motorola.com/analog , click on the Sense the Possibilities banner, encourages designers to demonstrate unique applications of electric field detection and imaging based on Motorola's E-Field imaging integrated circuit, the MC33794. Winning entries will be judged based on technical merit, originality, usefulness, cost-effectiveness and design optimization, in equal measure.
The MC33794, launched this past January, is the industry's only integrated circuit (IC) that generates and detects a low-level electric field and powers and supports a microcontroller unit (MCU), all in a single chip. The MC33794 is designed to replace numerous discrete devices previously needed to achieve the same functionality. Target applications of the IC include appliances, machine tools, automotive safety systems, and virtually any product or system that uses touch panel inputs as a user interface.
