Phonologies Announces InterpreXer SME Edition

On Monday, 5th May, 2003, Phonologies (India) Private Limited a company based out of Mumbai, India announced the release of its InterpreXer SME Edition. Based on Phonologies' flagship product InterpreXer 2.0, InterpreXer SME Edition, as the name suggests, is a Linux based pre-packaged VoiceXML 2.0 Browser with in-built DTMF and Synthesized Speech functionality and SIP support.

The InterpreXer SME Edition is a 4-to-24 Voice-ready DTMF solution available at an affordable price, allowing unprecedented access to in-house voice services systems. With InterpreXer SME Edition, businesses can easily develop and provide various voice-based services to their customers and employees, like making company information available on the phone, access to email, personal voice dialers etc.

The package includes OA&M tools for configuration and application monitoring. The InterpreXer SME Edition offers enterprises the flexibility to upgrade to Speech Recognition support as per their convenience. CEO of Phonologies, Rajkiran Talusani was quoted saying, "With the InterpreXer SME Edition our customers are VoiceXML-ready, even as they continue to offer DTMF based services. We offer special migration packages to our SME customers who can select leading speech engines that are supported by our Platform."

The InterpreXer SME Edition has been made available pre-bundled with Text-to-Speech technology provided by Cepstral. "Many of our customers needed an economical bundled solution that was also of a high quality. Cepstral was the obvious choice, as they have been recognized recently with two industry awards at the recent AVIOS/SpeechTek conference in San Jose." Being based out of India, Phonologies has been able to further leverage the low development cost to their advantages and pricing is expected to be as low as $225 per port (TTS included). "This is not a cut throat policy. Being members of the Marketing Committee, VoiceXML Forum, it is our responsibility to bring VoiceXML into the mainstream in India and around the world. Technology should be not always be made available at high prices. Our partners have endorsed this view and together we will adopt a similar pricing strategy throughout our product range."

For integration and test trial, Phonologies has made a package kit freely available for download. Besides a free kit, prospective clients will be provided free support via email and 2 hours of telephonic support for a months period. "We want more and more people to get hands on experience with voice based technologies without any risk", said Rajkiran.
