Covigo Announces Native Support for Microsoft .NET; Covigo Smart Client

.NET Edition Bridges the Gap between .NET Devices and J2EE Server-based Applications

MENLO PARK, Calif.--May 13, 2003--Covigo, Inc., a leading provider of adaptive software for developing and deploying mobile, web and portal applications, today announced native support for Microsoft .NET on laptops, tablet computers and personal digital assistants (PDAs). With the widespread adoption of .NET devices for mobile usage by enterprises and consumers, all enterprises that deploy mobile and wireless solutions must provide a solution for .NET devices while still leveraging existing back-end applications and data. Covigo provides a first-to-market solution for moving Java and J2EE applications to .NET devices.

"What's significant about this is now there are 6 million .NET developers that can leverage Covigo to drive the next wave of mobile applications and services," said Cheryl Traverse, president and CEO of Covigo. "By supporting .NET, we're enabling organizations that utilize both Java and .NET to use mobile devices in new ways that enhance their business."

Today's announcement positions Covigo for rapid growth in the mobile & wireless computing space. Analysts say that by year-end 2003, at least 15 percent of Pocket PC-based applications will be based on Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework, growing to 80 percent by 2005. Numerous vendors currently provide Pocket PC and Smartphone devices, including Casio, Dell, HP, NEC, Siemens, Symbol, Toshiba and others.
