Standing Up Under Fire: CRI's MobilEye Deployable Video Conferencing System Battle Tested in Iraq
AUSTIN, Texas--May 19, 2003--When the U.S. military went into Iraq, CRI's rugged new MobilEye(tm) went in with them.
MobilEye, from CRI, a long-time provider of commercial off-the-shelf systems for military and industrial applications worldwide, is capable of operating anywhere in the world through satellite communications systems or through IP addressable T1/E1 and ISDN lines and is compatible with virtually all current crypto logic devices.
In Operation Iraqi Freedom, MobilEye drew rave reviews for the ease of use, flexibility, and quality of the video and audio. It has been deployed with mobile image generation systems in support of ground forces. MobilEye was particularly valuable for handling top-level staff meetings, with up to four remote elements operating simultaneously.
"The hottest applications for MobilEye include remote operations, training and communications, situation awareness, diagnosis and support of complex installed systems, emergency communications, and telemedicine," says CRI General Manager Dave Bosco. "In addition to defense, MobilEye can be invaluable for homeland security, medical, energy exploration, diplomatic, and remote broadcast."
MobilEye integrates shock isolated high end video coder-decoder systems and a sunlight readable flat panel display with a high quality remote controlled camera with tilt, zoom and scan capability and microphone to provide superior video and audio quality. The system includes an integrated AC/DC (12-28 VDC) power supply that provides the flexibility to use the system on vehicle or battery power. MobilEye is fully self-contained in a sealed carry on sized case easily handled by one person. Options include multi-site conferencing, MobilEye(tm) NB rugged notebook computer, Inmarsat terminals and service, integrated ISDN modem and space for an integrated KIV-7 crypto device. Future enhancements include integrated GPS, wireless camera and microphone and more.
