Mobimak Deploys Comverse's `Who Called' Solution to Boost ARPU
WOODBURY, N.Y.--May 19, 2003--
Who Called, Part of the Comverse ImPact Solution, is Designed to Increase Network Traffic and Voicemail Usage in Macedonia
Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, today announced the deployment of Who Called for Mobimak, Macedonia's leading mobile operator.
Who Called is an element of Comverse ImPact -- a solution for quickly deployable services that are designed to maximize earning potential and generate new revenues.
Comverse's Who Called notifies consumers by SMS of phone numbers associated with inbound calls that cannot be completed for reasons such as: out-of-range user, depleted device battery, turned off device, or if a caller reaches the voicemail system but hangs up without leaving a voice message. The result is that a portion of total calls that were formerly lost to the network are now made available to subscribers, which can lead to an increase in network traffic and additional revenue when Who Called users call back the initiators of the reported calls.
"It is crucial in the increasingly competitive mobile market in Macedonia that we maintain our qualitative edge," said Dusko Kantardziev, Chief Information Technology Officer at Mobimak. "Warmly welcomed by our subscribers, Who Called exemplifies our service-oriented approach while maintaining our leadership in the region. Who Called assures our subscribers that they will be aware of attempts to reach them, and in most cases they can return the call at once with a single keypress. A particular strength of Who Called is that we can provide this practical and differentiating service at no cost to our subscribers -- and yet have the potential to quickly regain our investment through increased return calls. Moreover, Who Called has rewarded us in a second important way -- it has increased awareness of voicemail in our market and has brought in an influx of new voicemail subscribers."
"Mobimak is a dynamic, innovative operator that has advanced the standards of telecommunication service in its region," said Gadi Bahat, President of Comverse International. "The success of the deployment at Mobimak demonstrates yet again that Who Called is a valuable element in the voicemail and enhanced services environment. By increasing traffic via valuable information that handsets alone cannot provide, Who Called, together with other ImPact services, brings in new revenues and creates opportunities for promoting voicemail and other value-added services."
