QuickSilver to Provide High-Quality, Visual Tools for New Integrated Circuit
Used in Handsets
AUSTIN, Texas - May 27, 2003 - Metrowerks has licensed its CodeWarrior(tm)
Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to QuickSilver Technology(tm), Inc.
for the creation of a comprehensive tool chain for the Adaptive Computing
Machine(tm) (ACM) - Quicksilver's new class of integrated circuit for use in
next-generation mobile devices and communications handsets.
The CodeWarrior IDE license facilitates QuickSilver's delivery of
high-quality visual software development tools, enabling users to select
preferences, debug projects, and perform point-and-click and drag-and-drop
editing with exceptional ease. Such tools make it possible for
QuickSilver's targeted customers of service providers and original equipment
manufacturers (OEMs) to more quickly and easily exploit the design
advantages of the ACM, as well as to increase product differentiation and
keep pace with changing industry protocols, standards and consumer
requirements.
"The future of wireless/mobile communications is in making mobile devices
more versatile and valuable for consumers," said Andy Krumel, director of
tools engineering, QuickSilver. "By delivering a comprehensive tool chain
based on the CodeWarrior IDE, we're enabling our customers with faster
development cycles, quick time to market, and the ability to reduce costs
and enhance revenue within a variety of consumer markets."
"Metrowerks is dedicated to extending CodeWarrior technology to mobile
communications processing technologies for which no known standard toolset
exists, and where many tools often fail to meet the demand for speed and
quality in product development," said Greg Hemstreet, director of product
marketing, Desktop and Core Technologies, Metrowerks. "We believe
QuickSilver's ACM is an innovative IC technology that will change the way in
which mobile and communications devices are designed today, and the way in
which they will be used in the future. The CodeWarrior IDE license allows
QuickSilver to include a robust toolchain with its ACM technology, providing
customers with the power to compete and win in today's competitive
communications market."

About QuickSilver Technology
QuickSilver Technology( is a developer of enabling technologies for mobile
and wireless computing platforms. As the pioneer of adaptive computing,
QuickSilver's first initiative is the design, development, and production of
the Adaptive Computing Machine( (ACM), a new class of digital integrated
circuit (IC) that will revolutionize processing technology, providing
consumers with a media-rich communications experience, and OEMs and service
providers with enhanced product development and business models for greater
profitability. The ACM is the only software-programmable, real-time adaptive
IC that offers ASIC-class performance and low power consumption. Founded in
1998 with headquarters in San Jose, CA, the company has development
facilities in San Diego, CA; Seattle, WA; and an office in Shin-Yokohama,
Japan. For more information, visit the company's Web site at
