Full Spectrum Warrior Most Nominated Game of ``Game Critics Awards -- Best of E3 2003''
CALABASAS HILLS, Calif.--May 28, 2003--
THQ and Pandemic Studio's Tactical-Action Military Combat Game Nominated in Four Different Categories
THQ(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:THQI) and Pandemic Studios today announced that their authentic military tactical-action game Full Spectrum Warrior for the Xbox(TM) videogame system from Microsoft is the most nominated game from the prestigious "Game Critics Awards -- Best of E3 2003." Full Spectrum Warrior was nominated in four different categories including "Best Original Game," "Best Simulation Game," "Best Console Game," and "Best of Show" garnering more nominations than any other game at E3.
"We are especially thrilled to see Full Spectrum Warrior nominated alongside some of the biggest brands in gaming," said Tiffany Ternan, senior vice president of North American sales and distribution, THQ. "Full Spectrum Warrior's unique third-person squad-based, tactical-action gameplay depicting a modern urban warzone set itself apart at the show, garnering tremendous response among each of our key constituencies -- from retail to press to the analyst community."
Full Spectrum Warrior is based on a light infantry-training simulator designed by Pandemic Studios for the U.S. Army as a tool to reinforce Army doctrine and squad tactics among troops. Incorporating squad-based, tactical-action for the first time in any game, Full Spectrum Warrior delivers the experience of squad level command in the heat of battle. The product was developed with expertise from University of Southern California's Institute for Creative Technologies, which worked with Pandemic to bring state-of-the-art technology to the game. Designed to simulate today's challenges of urban combat missions, Full Spectrum Warrior delivers a level of realism and accuracy that has never been seen in a military-based game.
About 2003 Game Critics Awards
In order to be eligible for consideration in the 2003 Game Critics Awards, a game must be on display at the 2003 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, CA, May 14-16, 2003. Games shown off-site and in private meeting rooms are eligible along with those shown publicly on the show floor. The Judges for the 2003 Game Critics Awards are determined at the sole discretion of the Associate Chairmen of the Game Critics Award Committee. The list of judges is formulated before the E3 show and made available to marketing and public relations representatives at major software and hardware developers. Judges are generally Editors in Chief of major North American game publications. Judges are encouraged, where appropriate, to solicit the opinions of colleagues at their respective publications when determining the nominees.
